Super Eagles goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali has made a return to South African Premier Soccer League side Chippa United, five months after his exit from the club.
The 30-year-old goalkeeper’s comeback was confirmed by Chippa United ahead of the 2026/2027 season through an announcement on the club’s official X account on Sunday.
“Chippa United Football Club is delighted to welcome Stanley Nwabali back to the Chilli Boys,” the club stated. “After taking time away, Stanley Nwabali returns to the Eastern Cape, and we are pleased to welcome him back to the club.”
Nwabali had departed the club in February 2026 after both parties agreed to end their relationship mutually. At the time, Chippa United revealed that the Nigerian goalkeeper had requested to leave, a decision the club accepted after consideration.
The club also praised the former Enyimba goalkeeper for his commitment, professionalism, and contributions during his spell with the team.
Nwabali joined Chippa United in 2022 from Katsina United and became a household name in Nigeria after his outstanding performances at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where he helped the Super Eagles reach the final.
However, his absence from club football after leaving Chippa United affected his involvement with the national team, as he was omitted from several Super Eagles fixtures.
