Spain Lift 2026 World Cup after Beating Messi’s Argentina

European champions Spain have overthrown defending champions Argentina to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup following an entertaining final at the MetLife Stadium on Sunday.

The victory marked La Roja’s second World Cup triumph after winning the tournament for the time at the 2010 edition in South Africa. Spain beat Netherlands 1-0 in the final of that tournament.

The defeat meant that Lionel Messi and his Argentine teammates failed to become the first team to win back-to-back World Cup titles in 64 years.
