The National Universities Commission (NUC) has approved the full-time takeoff of new programmes at the Kwara State University (KWASU) Malete, with effect from the 2026/2027 academic session.
This was stated by KWASU’s director of university relations, Saeedat Aliyu, on Wednesday in Ilorin.
Mrs Aliyu said the approval is contained in a letter addressed to the vice-chancellor, Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, and signed by the NUC’s director of academic planning, Abubakar Girei.
She said that 14 of the programmes were at the undergraduate level, while 10 were at the postgraduate level.
”The approved undergraduate programmes are B.Sc Architecture, B.Sc Quantity Surveying, B.Sc Surveying and Geoinformatics, B.Nsc. Nursing Science, B.Ed Educational Technology, B.Ed Guidance and Counselling, B.Ed Health Education, and B.Ed Entrepreneurship Education. Others are B.Sc Insurance and Risk Management, B.Ed Technology Education, B.Sc Community Health Science, B.Eng Computer Engineering, B.Eng Industrial and Production Engineering, and B.Eng Biomedical Engineering.
The postgraduate programmes include M.A. and PhD Fine and Applied Arts, M.A. and PhD Performing Arts, M.A. Linguistics, PGD M. Tech, PhD Food Science and Technology, PhD Hospitality and Tourism Management, PhD Public Administration, and PhD Mass Communication.
”The university will continue to sustain the excellence in teaching, research, and community development for which the institution is reputed,” stated the vice-chancellor. “This is by producing excellent human capital resources needed to propel global development.”
