The Oyo State Police Command has apprehended three suspected armed robbers and recovered a locally made firearm along with ammunition during an operation in the Sabo-Mokola area of Ibadan.
The command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, saying the operation was carried out after security operatives received credible intelligence about the suspects’ alleged criminal activities.
According to him, officers attached to the Monitoring Unit conducted a coordinated raid on the identified hideout in the early hours of Monday, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.
The suspects were identified as Tomiwa Ayomide, 28, Haruna Kabiru, 32, and Haruna Hassan, popularly known as “Malo,” also 32.
Mr Olayinka said a search of the apartment led to the recovery of a single-barrel, cut-to-size locally made gun and seven cartridges.
He added that the suspects are currently in police custody while investigations continue to determine whether they are linked to other criminal activities and to identify and arrest any remaining members of the suspected robbery gang.
