At least 205 Nigerians were among more than 10,600 foreign nationals removed from Canada in June 2026 for failing to meet the country’s immigration requirements.
According to data released by the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA), Nigeria was among the top 10 countries with the highest number of deportees during the month, accounting for nearly two per cent of the total removals.
The figures showed that 10,607 individuals were deported in June, with Indians making up the largest group at 3,323, followed by 1,573 Mexicans and 372 Americans.
Other nationals removed from Canada included 354 Colombians, 293 Romanians, 227 Bangladeshis and 207 Pakistanis.
The CBSA said the deportation exercise was part of efforts to protect the credibility of Canada’s immigration system and ensure fairness for those who follow legal entry procedures.
“Removing individuals who do not have the right to enter or stay in Canada is essential to maintaining the integrity of Canada’s immigration program and ensuring fairness for those who come to this country lawfully,” the agency stated.
