The Kano State Fire Service has reported that 10 people lost their lives after falling into wells and ponds across the state, while fire incidents destroyed property estimated at N9 million in July.
The service also disclosed that it rescued six people and saved property worth N37.5 million during 20 fire outbreaks recorded across Kano’s 44 local government areas.
Speaking in Kano on Friday, the Director of the Kano State Fire Service, Sani Anas, said the agency received 13 genuine emergency calls and five false alarms from residents within the period.
Anas urged residents to prioritise safety precautions, especially around fire prevention and open water sources, to reduce avoidable tragedies.
He assured the public that the fire service would continue to respond swiftly to emergencies and strengthen measures aimed at protecting lives and property across the state.
