A 14-year-old student has reportedly killed at least six people after opening fire at Debsirin Nonthaburi School in Bang Kruai district, Nonthaburi province, Thailand, on Friday morning.
Reports from local media said the teenager first killed his grandparents at their residence in Bangkok before heading to the school, where he carried out the attack.
Police authorities confirmed that three teachers and three students were among those killed in the shooting, while over 20 others sustained injuries and were taken to hospitals for medical attention.
National police spokesperson Trairong Phiwphan said the suspected gunman has died, as emergency responders continue efforts at the scene.
The incident adds to a growing list of school-related shootings recorded in Thailand. In February, a teacher was killed and a student wounded during a shooting at a school in Hat Yai district, southern Thailand.
In another tragic incident in 2022, 36 people, including 24 children, lost their lives in an attack at a childcare centre in the country.
