Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed relevant authorities to ensure that the Lagos-Badagry Expressway remains free of activities that could hinder traffic and movement.

‎Sanwo-Olu gave the directive on Saturday while inspecting the highway corridor and engaging traders and residents on the need to maintain environmental cleanliness and order.

‎The governor described the Lagos-Badagry route as an important international highway connecting Lagos with Badagry and other destinations, stressing that its strategic significance required it to remain accessible.

‎He warned against traders and other activities encroaching on the road or creating obstructions for motorists and other road users.

‎According to him, commercial activities along the corridor must be conducted in an orderly manner and in line with government regulations.

‎Sanwo-Olu also appealed to traders and residents to maintain peace and cooperate with government efforts to improve the condition of the area.

‎He acknowledged the economic difficulties facing residents, saying it was important for the government to create an environment where people could continue their businesses without causing inconvenience to others.

‎The governor further emphasised the importance of providing affordable spaces for traders and assured small business owners that the state government would continue to introduce policies to support their activities.

‎He called on residents and traders to take greater responsibility for keeping the highway and its adjoining areas clean and free from obstructions.

‎Sanwo-Olu said the inspection was part of efforts to assess the condition of the corridor, monitor compliance with environmental and safety regulations, and ensure that commercial activities do not interfere with the movement of other road users.

‎He also assured stakeholders that his administration would continue engaging them to address their concerns and promote peaceful coexistence.

‎The governor commended residents for the peaceful atmosphere during the inspection and urged them to maintain their cooperation with the government in keeping the Lagos-Badagry Expressway safe, clean and accessible.
