Canada international Jonathan David is nearly a move from Juventus to Atletico Madrid ahead of Tuesday’s transfer window deadline.

‎According to reports, the transfer would be an initial loan deal with Atletico Madrid, covering 50 per cent of the 26-year-old’s salary, with an option for the La Liga club to buy the player permanently.

‎“Jonathan David to Atlético Madrid, here we go! Verbal agreement done with Juventus. Initial loan deal with buy option clause for the Canadian striker who’s set to join Atléti as exclusively revealed last week. Atléti will cover more than 50% of the salary,” transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said on Monday.

‎David joined Juventus from Lille in 2025 as a free agent, but the forward struggled to find form in Italy, scoring only eight goals and creating five assists for the Old Lady in 48 appearances last season.

‎Juventus’s permanent signing of Kolo Muani this transfer window, plus a possible late addition to the attacking line, would drop David down the pecking order.
