The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has released the names of 28 candidates who will contest governorship seats on the party’s platform in the 2027 general elections.
The party, in a statement issued on Friday and signed by its Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, said the candidates represent its bid to provide Nigerians with credible leadership options ahead of the elections.
The ADC described the candidates as a combination of politicians and professionals who would fly the party’s flag across the states where they are contesting.
Among the prominent candidates listed are Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour and Gbadamosi Babatunde Olalere in Lagos; Halliru Jika and Sama’ila Kabi in Bauchi; Senator Ahmad Kaita and Aminu Ahmed in Katsina; and John Sura and Pwajok-Kele Bitrus in Plateau.
Other names on the list include former Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, in Kebbi; Shinkafi Bilyaminu Yusuf in Zamfara; Biodun Ogundipe in Ogun; Taofeek Adegoke in Oyo; Great Ogboru in Delta; and Ibrahim Ali Amin in Kano.
The party’s candidates will contest governorship positions in 28 states, including Abia, Adamawa, Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Katsina, Kebbi, Kwara, Lagos, Nasarawa, Niger, Ogun, Oyo, Plateau, Rivers, Sokoto, Taraba, Yobe and Zamfara.
The party said the candidates would carry its banner into the 2027 election with a commitment to providing Nigerians with what it described as a “real alternative” in leadership.
