First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu was, on Wednesday, conferred with the traditional title of Oso Di Eme I of Imo State.

Senior Special Adviser to the First Lady on Media, Busola Kukoyi, announced the honour in a statement accompanied by photographs of the ceremony posted on her X handle.

She described the title as meaning one who supports her husband in English, eulogising the First Lady’s role in the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Kukoyi wrote, “Oso Di Eme 1 of Imo State meaning ‘She who supports her husband.’

“A worthy partner of her husband, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR. As he’s working, she is working!!!! Her Excellency Senator Oluremi Tinubu, CON First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Photographs released by the aide show the First Lady in colourful traditional attire featuring APC party symbols and Nigerian flag motifs.

She wears a distinctive red headwrap and coral beads while holding a large ceremonial fan inscribed “OSO DI EME” and a white horsetail flywhisk.

The honour comes during the First Lady’s recent visit to Imo State, where she was received by traditional rulers.

It also comes months after she was conferred with the chieftaincy title of “Ugosimba 1 of Enugu” in June 2026.

The Enugu title, which translates to “Jewel of Empowerment” in Igbo, was conferred in recognition of her efforts in promoting women’s empowerment and social development across Nigeria.
