Canada’s National Basketball Association star Dillon Brooks is scheduled to appear in an Arizona court on October 28 after being charged with driving under the influence of marijuana.
‎
‎The decision of the prosecutor to formally file charges against the Phoenix Suns forward came after he was initially arrested in Scottsdale around 1:00 a.m. on March 6 for being under the influence of a substance while driving.

‎ESPN reported that the case is believed to be related to marijuana use. Brooks was subsequently kept in the Scottsdale City Jail but released shortly on bail.
‎
‎It was gathered that the player passed a breathalyser test after he was initially pulled over for alleged traffic violations but a police officer told him that his car smelled “like a marijuana dispensary.”
‎
‎“This charge stems from the incident last March. We have addressed the matter with Dillon and have no further comment,” Suns senior spokesperson Stacey Mitch said.
‎
‎Before the indictment, Brooks was already facing a separate misdemeanor charge stemming from a January incident involving reckless driving and speeding, with a trial readiness conference scheduled for November 9.
‎
‎Brooks recently signed a three-year, $73 million contract extension through 2029-30 with the Suns after averaging a career-high 20.2 points last season.
