The political landscape of the Federal Capital Territory is shifting, as former Senator Philip Aduda met with the top echelons of the All Progressives Congress (APC) on [Insert Day], just hours after severing ties with the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Senator Aduda arrived at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja’s Wuse II district, accompanied by a delegation of key FCT political stakeholders, including the newly elected Chairmen of Bwari and Kuje Area Councils, Joshua Ishaku and Danjuma Shekwolo. The group was immediately ushered into a closed-door session with the APC National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, and the broader National Working Committee (NWC).

The urgent meeting comes on the heels of Aduda’s official resignation from the PDP, a move formalized in a letter to his ward chairman. In the correspondence, the former lawmaker cited the “crisis in the party” as the primary reason for his departure.

Despite his exit, Aduda’s letter struck a conciliatory tone regarding his past. “I remain grateful for the opportunity the party gave me to serve in various elective positions in our nation,” he wrote.

Political observers view today’s development as more than a mere consultation. Aduda’s presence at the APC stronghold with high-profile local government officials suggests a coordinated political realignment, potentially paving the way for his formal defection to the ruling party. The outcome of the ongoing meeting is highly anticipated, as it could redefine political loyalties in the FCT ahead of future elections.
