The Nasarawa State Government has made explosive allegations linking former Governor Senator Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and former Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Abubakar Adamu to youths allegedly involved in disrupting activities surrounding Vice President Kashim Shettima’s visit to Lafia on Wednesday, November 4, 2026.

‎‎In a strongly worded statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Shuaibu Magaji Labaran, SAN, the government condemned what it described as an act of political recklessness and deliberate disrespect to constituted authorities during the traditional homage paid to the Vice President at the Emir of Lafia’s palace.

‎‎The government alleged that the homage was “marred by ignoble acts perpetrated by some irate youth” suspected to be connected to prominent political figures, “including Sen. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura and IGP Muhammad Abubakar Adamu (Rtd).”

‎‎Describing the incident as an affront to the office of the Vice President, the government declared:

banner

‎‎”This act of recklessness deliberately carried out to show disregard to constituted authorities and to the exalted office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is not only condemnable but not acceptable.”

‎‎In a decisive move, the government directed the Department of State Services (DSS) to immediately investigate the incident, identify those responsible and uncover any alleged sponsors.

‎‎According to the statement, the DSS is to:

‎‎”Immediately institute full investigation to unravel the causes of the incident, the perpetrators and sponsors of the condemnable act and bring them to book in order to face the full wrath of the law.”
