ACM Cyril Mathew, has assumed duty as the 34th Zonal Commanding Officer (ZCO) of the zone 5 headquarters, Benin, of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC).
The zone comprises of Edo Delta and Anambra.
This is contained in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, by the Ag zonal Public Education Officer, Mercy Ebomwonyi.
Ebomwonyi said that Mathew, who assumed duty at the zonal headquarters on April 7, took over from his predecessor, ACM Joseph Toby, who had retired from the services of the corps on April 4.
She also said that the new ZCO had served the corps in various capacities as Unit Head of Operations, Unit Commander, Sector Head of Operations, Head of Admin/Human Resources, Head of Plants and Sector Commander in various states like Rivers, Oyo, Sokoto, Jigawa, FCT, Lagos among other.
She added that his wealth of experience would be an asset in coordinating the many sensitive activities of the FRSC within the three states.
She quoted the new zonal commanding officer as calling on residents in the zone as well as officers and men of the corps in Edo, Delta and Anambra in making the highways safer for all road users.
The FRSC established in 1988, is the lead agency for road safety management in Nigeria and its website is wwwfrsc.gov.ng.
