Political tensions in Osun State have intensified following comments made by Nigerian singer Davido, who publicly criticised Minister of Marine and Blue Economy Adegboyega Oyetola in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday.
Davido accused Oyetola of political desperation, reacting to what he described as an “alleged plan” linked to the former Osun State governor.
In his post, the singer wrote: “The most desperate politician in the world is @GboyegaOyetola, very embarrassing,” he said. “Oyetola, your plan no go work.”
Although Davido did not provide further details about the alleged plan, the statement quickly gained traction online, triggering widespread reactions from supporters and critics across social media platforms.
The comments come amid an already heated political atmosphere in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election, with political figures and their allies increasingly engaging in public exchanges and online commentary.
As of the time of reporting, there has been no official response from Oyetola or his representatives regarding Davido’s remarks.
The situation reflects a familiar pattern in Osun politics, where political competition often extends beyond party structures into public discourse, including social media, celebrity commentary, and public statements from political allies.
An X user @rashid_Yakin replied to his tweet saying, “Your uncle unseat him as governor, he wants his revenge… now all of a sudden he is desperate.”
Another user with @GiwaBaban said, “It’s high time you stop this your online ranting! Campaign for your uncle in peace.”
