The Allied Peoples Movement (APM) has chosen Bauchi State Commissioner for Finance, Dr. Yakubu Adamu, as its governorship flagbearer for the 2027 elections.
During the party’s affirmation exercise, Governor Bala Mohammed also emerged as the APM candidate for the Bauchi South Senatorial District.
Speaking after the exercise, the Bauchi APM Chairman, Auwal Isa, said the party is fully prepared for the 2027 polls and has presented competent candidates capable of leading the state.
The official who supervised the process, Hon. Danlami Ahmed Kawule, described the party as one that is steadily gaining acceptance and political influence across Bauchi ahead of the elections.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Adamu promised to sustain and expand the achievements of Governor Bala Mohammed if elected governor. He noted that the governor’s leadership style and developmental strides encouraged him to contest the position.
He praised the APM leadership and supporters for their confidence in him, adding that the party’s commitment to internal democracy has strengthened unity among members and ensured smooth congresses at ward, local government, and state levels.
According to him, the party’s democratic process allows members to participate actively in decision-making and contributes to stronger unity within the movement.
Dr. Adamu further commended party leaders for ensuring fairness throughout the consensus and affirmation process, saying the outcome reflected the collective will of members.
Addressing other aspirants, he applauded their contributions and urged everyone to unite for the party’s success in 2027.
He stated that his administration’s priorities would include economic development, job creation, healthcare, education, infrastructure, youth empowerment, rural development, renewable energy, and inclusive governance.
The governorship candidate stressed that the campaign would focus on issues affecting the people rather than political hostility, promising direct engagement with residents to address their concerns.
He also reaffirmed loyalty to Governor Bala Mohammed’s developmental agenda, pledging continuity of the administration’s vision.
Governor Bala Mohammed, while addressing party members after emerging as the senatorial candidate, praised aspirants for promoting internal democracy and strengthening the party through their sacrifices and dedication.
The governor emphasised the need for unity and continuity, saying the movement remains committed to the progress and development of Bauchi State.
He assured supporters that the party would run a peaceful and issue-driven campaign centred on development and service delivery.
Mohammed added that the movement’s objective is to build a stronger and more prosperous Bauchi State while maintaining respect for political opponents and the electorate.
