A renowned Islamic scholar and Khalifatul-Adabiyah Worldwide, Ash-Sheikh Abdulqodir Muhammad Kamaludeen Al-Adabiy, has passed away.
The respected cleric reportedly died in the early hours of Friday in Ilorin, Kwara State.
His death was confirmed through multiple social media posts, including a tribute shared by prominent Ilorin-based Islamic scholar, Shaykh Abdul Fatah Aribidesi.
Sheikh Abdulqodir was the eldest surviving son of the late Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud-deen Al-Adaby, founder of the Azumratul Adabiyyah Al-Kamoliyyah movement and the first Grand Mufti of Ilorin.
Reacting to the development, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman of the Kwara State Traditional Rulers Council, Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu-Gambari, expressed sadness over the cleric’s passing, describing it as a major loss to the Ilorin Emirate and the Muslim community.
In a condolence message issued through his spokesman, Dr Abdulazeez Arowona, the monarch said the death of the cleric was a painful development not only for Ilorin Emirate but for humanity at large.
The Emir also mourned the passing of Alhaji Alabi Jagunmo, father of the National President of the Ilorin Emirate Youth Development Association, Alhaji Uthman Jagunmo.
He prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the deceased, asking that their shortcomings be forgiven and that they be granted Al-Jannah Firdaus.
The late Sheikh Abdulqodir was widely respected within Islamic circles in Kwara and beyond for continuing the religious legacy of his father, Sheikh Muhammad Kamalud-deen Al-Adaby, who died in 2005.
Meanwhile, Senator Saliu Mustapha, representing Kwara Central Senatorial District, also expressed grief over the cleric’s death.
In a condolence message, the lawmaker described Sheikh Abdulqodir’s passing as a monumental loss to the Ilorin Emirate, the Muslim Ummah, and the country at large.
