Four men, Anifowose Ayomide, 28, Peter Ayomide, 24, Rasaz Opeyemi, 30 and Ojo Timileyin,22 were on Tuesday, arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court over alleged breach of the peace.
They are facing a charge of breach of the peace, to which they pleaded not guilty.
The Prosecutor, ASP Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on March 14, at 7.30 a.m. in Ado-Ekiti.
Oriyomi said that the police caught the defendants while allegedly roaming around a dark spot tagged as ‘criminals’ hideout area’.
He alleged that the defendants breached the peace, when they refused arrest.
Oriyomi said that the offence contravened Section 181(1) (d) of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to assemble his witnesses.
Defence Counsel, Oluwafemi Alabi and Timi Omotosho, urged the court to grant their clients bail, promising that they would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N50,000 each with one surety each in like sum.
He adjourned the case to April 14, for mention.
