The Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elvert Ayambem, has congratulated Hon. Victor Abang over his emergence as consensus candidate for the Ikom-Boki Federal Constituency.
Ayambem gave the commendation in Ikom while receiving Abang ahead of the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primaries expected to affirm the party’s unanimous decision.
He noted that the overwhelming acceptance of Abang as consensus candidate for the federal constituency reflects growing unity and political maturity within the constituency.
According to the Speaker: “Your emergence is a testament to your impactful three years in the Green Chamber. The party has spoken. There is only one ticket for our federal constituency, and you merit it given your numerous intervention projects which have altered the narrative synonymous with our terrain.”
He said Abang’s emergence through consensus signposts the willingness of stakeholders to prioritise collective interest over individual ambition, noting that such an approach strengthens internal cohesion and improves the chances of electoral success.
The Speaker urged party members and supporters across Ikom-Boki to rally behind the consensus arrangement, stressing that unity remains critical to consolidating the political gains of the area ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He further assured that the leadership of the Assembly would continue to support initiatives that promote peace, inclusiveness and development across constituencies in the state.
In his response, Hon. Victor Abang expressed appreciation to the Speaker and stakeholders for the confidence reposed in him, pledging to justify the trust through effective representation if elected.
He said his aspiration would be anchored on grassroots engagement, youth empowerment and legislative interventions aimed at attracting development to the Ikom-Boki Federal Constituency.
The event attracted political stakeholders, party leaders and supporters from across the constituency.
