Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has disclosed that his administration has completed the reconstruction of more than 42 roads across the Ogun Central Senatorial District within seven years.
The governor made the disclosure on Friday during the commissioning of the 3.5-kilometre Adesan Road project in Mowe-Ofada, located in Obafemi-Owode Local Government Area of the state.
Abiodun said the project was part of his government’s broader plan to improve infrastructure, enhance connectivity and stimulate economic growth across Ogun State.
He explained that since assuming office on May 29, 2019, his administration had remained committed to fulfilling its promises to residents, adding that about 1,600 kilometres of roads had been reconstructed across the state.
The governor maintained that infrastructure projects under his leadership had been distributed fairly across the various parts of Ogun, assuring residents that more projects would be initiated and completed before the end of his tenure.
He urged residents of Ofada and surrounding communities to protect the newly reconstructed road and ensure it serves its intended purpose.
According to him, Ofada’s importance as a major rice-producing community and its closeness to Lagos State made infrastructure development in the area necessary. He added that Obafemi-Owode had become a hub for residents and businesses due to its strategic location.
Abiodun noted that the completed road would improve transportation, link communities, support businesses and make movement between Ogun and Lagos easier.
“We will continue to be a promise-keeping administration, and I urge residents to ensure this road serves the purpose for which it was constructed and rehabilitated,” he said.
Also speaking, the lawmaker representing Obafemi-Owode Constituency in the Ogun State House of Assembly, Damilola Soneye, praised the governor for delivering the project.
Soneye said the road had brought relief to motorists and residents after years of poor condition, while also improving economic activities and increasing property values in the area.
He added that the reconstruction had transformed transportation in the community and created better opportunities for residents and businesses.
