A coalition of youths from the Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in Delta State has endorsed President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori and other candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced on Saturday during the U3 Youth Wing 2026 Youth Engagement Summit held at Ovwor-Olomu Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area. The event was themed “Connecting Youths to Government Initiatives.”
The motion endorsing the APC candidates was presented by the group’s male youth leader, Hope Ejiro, and seconded by the female youth leader, Sandra Akpoguma. Participants at the summit unanimously adopted the motion.
Those endorsed include President Tinubu, Governor Oborevwori, Senator Ede Dafinone, House of Representatives member Francis Waive and other APC candidates expected to contest the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the summit, Mr Ejiro explained that the programme was designed to strengthen the relationship between young people and government while encouraging greater youth participation in governance and community development.
Delivering the keynote address, Kingsley Akeni commended governments at different levels for introducing programmes aimed at improving youth welfare and expanding employment opportunities.
He highlighted initiatives such as D-CARES, NELFUND, bursary schemes and scholarship programmes, noting that they had provided many young people with opportunities to pursue their ambitions.
Akeni also said Delta State’s cooperation with the Federal Government had enhanced its prospects for attracting more developmental projects. He urged youths to maintain peace in their communities to create an environment that would encourage further development.
Addressing participants, Senator Ede Dafinone, who represents Delta Central Senatorial District, said youth empowerment remained a major priority of his legislative work.
According to him, much of his first three years in the Senate had focused on human capital development through job creation, skills acquisition and support for entrepreneurship.
Dafinone added that his appointment as Chairman of the Senate Committee on the Federal Capital Territory had opened more opportunities for constituents, particularly in securing federal employment.
He said many qualified applicants miss employment opportunities because they lack support, assuring constituents that his office would continue assisting deserving candidates free of charge.
The senator disclosed that several youths from the constituency had already secured jobs through his intervention in recruitment exercises conducted by agencies including the Federal Road Safety Corps and the Nigeria Police Force.
He encouraged qualified youths to apply for vacancies in federal agencies, including the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), and submit their application details to his office for necessary support.
