Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has announced Tuesday as a work-free day for civil servants to enable them to collect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) ahead of the August 15 governorship election.

‎The governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday in Osogbo, noting that the directive applies to workers across the state, including local government employees and staff of tertiary institutions.

‎According to the statement, the Head of Service of the state, Ayanleye Aina, communicated the governor’s approval to public servants through an official circular.

‎Adeleke said the decision was aimed at encouraging workers to participate in the electoral process and fulfil their civic responsibilities before the upcoming governorship election and subsequent polls.

‎He, however, exempted personnel engaged in essential services, including health workers and security agencies, urging them to make arrangements to maintain uninterrupted operations.

‎The governor also called on public servants and members of the informal sector to obtain their PVCs promptly, describing the voter card as a vital tool for citizens to influence the future of the state through elections.

‎“Your vote is your power. Your voter card is your licence to the ballot and, by extension, to the ballot box,” Adeleke stated.
