The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof. Joash Ojo Amupitan, SAN, today met with Google Global Lead, Civic Responsibility, David J. Lopez, in Ottawa, Canada.
The meeting took place on the sidelines of the Global Conference on Responsible AI and Elections, which is bringing together election management bodies, technology experts and other stakeholders to examine the opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence in electoral processes.
The Chairman was accompanied by the Director of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Dr. Lawrence Bayode.
The meeting is coming ahead of preparations for the #NigeriaDecides2027 general elections.
Details of the meeting were not disclosed, but it is expected to focus on strengthening collaboration between INEC and Google on responsible use of AI, combating misinformation, and enhancing civic engagement.
