A week before the US midterm elections, hackers attacked the country’s Federal Election Commission website, disrupting its electronic filing system.

‎‎Checks on Tuesday showed an alert on the FEC’s website that read, “FEC’s electronic filing system is currently offline: We apologise for the inconvenience, and we’re continuing to work to resolve the issue.”

‎For the past 18 hours, the U.S. FEC website has suffered an “electronic filing system outage” due to an attack by hackers.

‎‎“This incident affects e-filing (online web forms, electronic filing submission system, electronic filing vendor tools),” FEC said.
