The Nigeria Union of Teachers, Kwara State Wing, has urged teachers to prioritise retirement planning by enrolling in its ENDWELL Scheme aimed at ensuring financial security after service.
The Chairman of the scheme’s Board of Trustees, Saka Rasheedat, made the call during a sensitisation programme held in Ilorin on Thursday, describing the initiative as a safeguard against post-retirement hardship.
She said the scheme was designed to guarantee financial stability and dignity for teachers after years of service, noting that it would help members avoid economic difficulties in retirement.
“This gathering is not only historic but also a moment for reflection on the future of our members, especially as they approach retirement,” she said.
Rasheedat urged teachers to take advantage of the programme, describing it as a reliable platform that offers long-term benefits and peace of mind.
She added that the scheme had been structured with operational units, including audit and remittance systems, to ensure transparency and accountability in its management.
“The vision behind this scheme is clear; to ensure that our members do not face hardship after retirement but instead enjoy a secure and comfortable life.
“I encourage every teacher to key into this initiative. It is a reliable system that secures your future and safeguards your well-being beyond active service,” she added.
The Kwara State Chairman of the union, Wahab Agboola, assured members of the sustainability of the initiative, reaffirming the union’s commitment to teachers’ welfare.
