The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), on Friday allegedly denied some Chieftains of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) access to Mallam Nasir Elrufai, the former Kaduna State governor, who is currently in the commission’s custody.
The delegation reportedly included the party’s Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, the Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, and Lukman Salifu, a member of the party’s Manifesto and Policy Committee.
The reason for the visit, and why they were denied access couldn’t be obtained as of press time.
The Kaduna State former governor has been in detention for more than three months in the custody of ICPC over an allegation of abuse of office, breach of national security, and financial misappropriation.
Supporters and leaders of the ADC have described his detention as a political persecution, citing the commission’s inability to be transparent in executing the case.
