The Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) has issued a stern warning to operators of hotels, event centres, and other public facilities in Abuja, cautioning that they risk losing their property titles if they allow illegal political organisations to use their premises.

The warning was disclosed in a statement released on Friday by Lere Olayinka, Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the FCT Minister.

According to the statement, land allocations within the territory are strictly meant for lawful activities, adding that any breach would attract stiff penalties, including revocation of title documents.

The administration stated that henceforth, any hotel, event centre, or public building found to have hosted illegal groups would face withdrawal of its title documents.

It explained that the directive is part of ongoing efforts to enhance security and maintain peace in the nation’s capital, especially amid rising political activities.

The FCTA further noted that monitoring of public facilities would be intensified to prevent their use for gatherings capable of disrupting public order.

Facility owners were urged to verify the legality of groups requesting to use their venues and to confirm the purpose of such meetings before granting approval.

The administration also advised operators to exercise caution when dealing with political organisations, stressing that they should only engage recognised party leadership approved by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and keep proper records of all transactions.

It warned that failure to comply with the directive would attract severe sanctions, including possible revocation of property rights.
