The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested one suspect linked to a robbery attack targeting students’ residences near the Numan campus of Adamawa State Polytechnic.

Police said the incident occurred in the early hours of May 28, 2026, when armed hoodlums reportedly stormed a students’ compound behind the MOPE Extension area in Numan Local Government Area.

The attackers, said to be armed with cutlasses, knives, and sticks, allegedly robbed residents of cash, mobile phones, power banks, and other valuables.

According to the police, one suspect has so far been apprehended, while efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the gang who escaped from the scene.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Kabir Umar Hassan, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case for detailed investigation.

The command reassured residents and students of its commitment to protecting lives and property across the state.

“The command remains committed to protecting lives and property and will continue efforts to rid the state of criminal elements,” the statement added.

Police also appealed to members of the public to remain vigilant and provide useful information that could assist security operatives in arresting the fleeing suspects.
