The All Progressives Congress (APC) recorded a decisive victory at the polling unit of its governorship candidate and incumbent governor, Biodun Oyebanji, in Saturday’s Ekiti State governorship election.
Results announced at Polling Unit 003, Ward 06, Okelele, Ikogosi Ekiti, showed the ruling party securing an overwhelming majority of the votes cast.
The APC garnered 326 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) received two votes. The Action Democratic Party (ADP) and the African Action Congress (AAC) recorded one vote each. Three ballots were declared invalid.
Results from the polling unit were as follows:
APC – 326 votes
ADC – 2 votes
ADP – 1 vote
AAC – 1 vote
Void votes – 3
Governor Oyebanji, who is seeking re-election on the APC platform, cast his ballot at the same polling unit alongside his wife, Dr. Olayemi Oyebanji.
Speaking after voting, the governor expressed optimism about his party’s chances in the election, stating that the APC remained on course to exceed its target of 500,000 votes statewide.
He also praised the turnout of voters and appealed for patience over reported technical issues encountered during the exercise, expressing confidence that all eligible voters would eventually be able to cast their ballots.
