Nigerian Afrobeats star Damini Ogulu, professionally known as Burna Boy, serenaded fans as the Pittsburgh Steelers defeated the New Orleans Saints 16-10 in the first-ever National Football League (NFL) Paris Games in France on Sunday.
The Grammy Award winner performed some of his international hits, including ‘4 Kampe II’, ‘Ye’, ‘On the Low’, and ‘Last Last’ to over 78,000 fans at the Stade de France to watch the first-ever NFL game.
He becomes the second African musician to perform in a NFL international series halftime show after star Oyinkansola Aderibigbe, aka Ayra Starr took to the stage during the NFL London Game two weeks ago.
“Paris gave me one of the biggest nights of my career, and to walk back into Stade de France for a moment like this means everything,” Burna Boy said when he was initially announced as the headliner of the show.
“The NFL is bringing something to France that has never happened here before, and I get to stand in the middle of it representing African music, and I intend to give the people a show they will not forget.”
The performance marked the return of Burna Boy to the Stade de France after he headlined a sold out 80,000-capacity concert at the venue last year, becoming the African artiste to achieve the feat.
