‎‎Spain’s Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed sadness over the crash and offered condolences to the victims’ families.

‎‎“Shocked by the serious train accident in Toledo,” Mr Sanchez said. “I remain in constant contact with the Minister of Transport, @oscar_puente_, and with the president of Castilla-La Mancha, @garciapage.”

‎‎Mr Sanchez said emergency services were working on the ground to assist those affected and ensure their safety, coordinating with all involved administrations.

‎‎Toledo’s train collision is the third rail disaster in Spain in 2026, following two high-speed train collisions near Adamuz in January and another in southern Spain’s Córdoba province, which killed more than 40 people.
