‎Egypt has unveiled its first domestically developed industrial robot.
‎
‎Locally sourced components currently make up 80 per cent of the robot.
‎
‎In the near future, the plan is to increase this to 90 per cent once motor production has been localised.
‎
‎Egypt’s Minister of Industry, Khaled Hashem, described the project as an important step toward strengthening Egypt’s manufacturing capacity and building more efficient, competitive factories.
‎
‎He said the project also demonstrated young Egyptian specialists’ ability to turn knowledge and innovation into industrial products.
‎
‎The ministry will develop mechanical engineering and production lines as part of implementing Egypt’s industrial strategy.
‎
‎Mr Hashem added that the ministry would support initiatives to strengthen the manufacturing sector and create opportunities for young professionals.
‎
‎Earlier, Egypt’s capital, Cairo, ranked 86th in the 2026 global ranking of the top 100 innovation clusters, compiled by the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO).
