The Kaduna State Judicial Service Commission has approved the promotion of 223 personnel, citing merit as the basis for the advancement.
The decision was reached during the commission’s meeting held on August 11 and 12, chaired by the Chief Judge of Kaduna State, Justice Muhammad Tukur Mu’azu Aliyu.
According to the commission’s secretary, Murtala Halidu, the promotions covered 37 magistrates, 28 Alkalai (judges), 22 Customary Court judges and other judicial staff.
Halidu disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday, adding that the commission also approved new “Guidelines for Submission of Petitions in the Judiciary” for immediate implementation.
The commission further adopted the report of a committee that investigated alleged misconduct involving Mohammed Salisu, a Principal Registrar at the Chief Magistrate Court on Daura Road, Kaduna.
Salisu was investigated over the alleged unauthorised auction of three vehicles. The committee recommended that he be prosecuted, while clearing Deputy Chief Registrar Aliyu Yakubu-Dogara and bailiff Salisu Jibrin-Maigana of any involvement.
Halidu added that one of the vehicles, a Toyota Corolla, had been recovered by the High Court.
He said the commission remained committed to promoting integrity, transparency and efficiency within the Kaduna State judiciary.
