The Moroccan government has proposed financial assistance of up to 5,000 dirhams ($509) for young people planning to get married as part of its 2026–2031 development programme.

‎‎The proposal was outlined in a government declaration presented by Prime Minister Fatima Zahra Mansouri before the two chambers of Parliament, according to Moroccan media reports.

‎‎The initiative forms part of a broader strategy to strengthen family ties, promote citizenship and preserve the country’s national identity. The programme also provides for a coordinated approach to the welfare of children, young people and older persons, alongside increased protection for women and children.

‎‎As part of the plan, the government intends to implement reforms to the country’s family code and monitor their progress through an annual report detailing the implementation process.

‎‎The government identified housing shortages, unemployment and the rising cost of living as some of the economic pressures affecting families. It said addressing these challenges and strengthening family stability remained central to preserving Morocco’s social structure.
