Nicolas Jackson scored a brace as Aston Villa beat Manchester City 2-1 at Villa Park to condemn Enzo Maresca’s side to their first defeat in the Premier League this season.

‎‎It took the Senegalese forward only six minutes into the match to put Aston Villa ahead, smashing home a cross into the box by John McGinn, an advantage that the hosts maintained until half-time.

‎However, Erling Haaland equalised for Man City seven minutes into the second half when he headed home a cross by Iliman Ndiaye but Jackson responded exactly on the hour mark to put Aston Villa ahead once again.

‎‎Despite a late threat from Man City to come back into the match, Aston Villa managed to neutralise those attempts as Unai Emery’s team secured the maximum three points.

‎‎The defeat marked the first time that Man City have dropped points in the league this season, giving Arsenal a chance to go level on 21 points if they win their match against Aston Villa.
