The Oyo State police command says it arrested three suspects over alleged homosexuality following an intelligence-led operation in the Saki area of the state.

‎‎In a statement on Friday, the command’s spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, said the operation followed intelligence received by the command on September 29, 2026.

‎He stated that the suspects were arrested over alleged involvement in the act.

‎‎Mr Olayinka said the state commissioner of police directed the command monitoring unit to verify the intelligence and take appropriate action, culminating in the arrest of three suspects.

‎‎The suspects were identified as Ayomide Lukeman, 22; Shuaib Aremu, 22; and Abdul-Rasheed Mufeed, 23.

‎‎According to him, during the preliminary investigations, the suspects allegedly admitted to engaging in homosexual acts.

‎‎He said, “Two of the suspects reportedly confessed to having had carnal knowledge of the third suspect on multiple occasions, with the latter allegedly regarded by them as their “wife.

‎‎“Investigations are, however, ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the allegations and determine whether any other individuals are connected to the matter.”
