The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected armed robber, Olajunja Segun Samson, and recovered a locally made pistol and charms from him in the Igando area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed in a statement on Wednesday that the suspect was apprehended after police officers noticed a motorcycle carrying three individuals who were acting suspiciously.
According to her, the suspects attempted to escape when they saw the police, but officers managed to arrest Samson, 29, while the two others fled and abandoned the motorcycle.
“A search of the suspect and the abandoned motorcycle led to the recovery of one locally fabricated pistol and assorted charms,” Adebisi said.
She added that the suspect remains in police custody as authorities intensify efforts to track down his accomplices, noting that investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Tijani Fatai, praised the officers involved for their alertness and professionalism.
Fatai assured residents that the command would continue its efforts to combat violent crimes and maintain security across the state.
