Reps Majority Leader Loses Re-election Bid as He Fails to Secure Party Ticket

Julius Ihonvbere, the majority leader of the house of representatives, has lost the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for Owan federal constituency in Edo state.

On Saturday, APC organised the primary election for the Owan federal constituency.

The result of the primary election was announced by Kelvin Muhammed, the presiding officer, at the Afuze office of the party.

Announcing the result in a video published by NTA Uzairue, Muhammed said the primary election was contested by five aspirants.

The presiding officer said Andrew Ijegbia, a former Edo commissioner of mining, won the election, after he polled 3,695 votes.

“The scores are as follows, Honorable Andrew Ijegbia scored 3,695 votes. Honorable Abdul Oroh scored 1,740 votes while Professor Julius Ihonvbere scored 1,005 votes,” the presiding officer said.

“Honourable Folly scored 505 votes. Barrister Scot scored 642 vote. Total vote cast is 7,587 and the winner of this contest which is the primary is Honourable Andrew Ijegbai.”

The result means that Ihonvbere has lost his bid to return to seat for the third term.
