President Bola Tinubu has added 18 months to the tenures of Sylvester Nwakuche, controller-general of the Nigerian Correctional Service and Kemi Nandap, comptroller-general of the Nigeria Immigration Service, citing a succession gap.

‎‎In a statement on Monday, presidential aide Bayo Onanuga said Mr Tinubu approved the extension of their tenures on the recommendation of interior minister Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, who identified and addressed succession gaps in both services.

‎‎Mr Nwakuche’s tenure will expire on May 26, 2028 and Ms Nandap’s on June 30, 2028.

‎‎“President Tinubu commended Nwakuche and Nandap for the reforms achieved under their leadership and charged them to consolidate these gains,” the statement said.
