‎A former Commissioner for Lands and Survey in Delta, Chief Fred Majemite, has described the late former governor Emmanuel Uduaghan as a modest and unsung governor.
‎
‎Majemite who served in the admistration of the late former governor in various capacity, said this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Abuja, while reacting to the death of Uduaghan.
‎
‎He also described the late Uduaghan as a great unifier, who brought human face to governance in the state as a politician.
‎
‎“As a governor, he was a modest man. He wasn’t given to flamboyancy. He had human face in all that he does. As a politician, he played politics with human face.
‎
‎“When he got into government, he was not to be a governor. All he wanted to do was to be a doctor in government house, to heal. And when providence brought him to become governor, he brought out to us governance as a healer.
‎
‎“He was one man I strongly believed was unsung, because during his tenure he brought out some very strong policies that impacted on the lives of residents of the state positively.
‎
‎“Some of his projects today stand out. Gov. Uduaghan was the only man who started and completed the airport we have today in Asaba.
‎
‎“He is one governor who built, started the new government house, and completed it. He was the one who started what we call the Ughelli- Asaba dual carriage road, one of the longest routes.
‎
‎“He also started what they call the Kokodiagbene road linking the Warri North and Warri South West Local Government Areas of the state among other projects in the state,” he said.
‎
‎The former commissioner further said that as a human being, the late former governor had his flaws, adding that he was one man the people of Delta would not forget easily.
‎
‎“When he had this challenge, we thought he was going to come right out of it. It started by just by just a removal of a tumor, and from there, he had another surgery that has finally taken his life.
‎
‎“We will miss him. I personally will miss him greatly because as a politician, all the political appointments I have had were all during his administration.
‎
‎“Today I will say I was a commissioner in the state, a Special Adviser and a Political Adviser. He believed in me and I am happy to also contribute my little quota to the growth and development of Delta. The last time I saw him we prayed together, but again God knows why took him now,” Majemite added.
