Trump Says Putin, Xi Pledged Not To Arm Iran

U.S. President Donald Trump has revealed that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping assured him their countries would not supply weapons to Iran.

‎In a post on his Truth Social platform, Mr Trump said he trusted both leaders to keep their promises, stressing that neither Russia nor China was taking part in supporting Iran militarily.

‎According to him, any decision by either country to provide arms to Tehran would have serious consequences and would not serve their national interests.
‎
‎”Two major countries that people often mention in relation to Iran are, in my opinion, not involved,” Mr Trump wrote. “If they were, it would be very bad for them. It is certainly not in their best interests.”

‎Mr Trump recalled his recent visit to Beijing, where he said President Xi assured him that China would neither sell nor transfer weapons to the Islamic Republic of Iran under any circumstances.

‎He added that he accepted Mr Xi’s assurance, citing the relationship between both leaders and noting that his administration had extended significant goodwill towards China.

‎The U.S. president also said Mr Putin made a similar commitment despite Russia’s ongoing war in Ukraine.

‎According to Mr Trump, the Russian leader understands that the United States supplies military equipment to NATO member states rather than directly to Ukraine.
‎
‎”He understands that I do not sell weapons to Ukraine, but to NATO countries. They pay full price, and what happens to those weapons afterwards is not something I control,” Mr Trump stated.

‎The remarks come as tensions remain high following the conflict involving Iran, with Mr Trump warning that any nation supplying arms to Tehran could face severe repercussions.
‎
‎His comments also follow reports suggesting that Russia or China may have shared targeting intelligence with Iran after recent attacks on U.S. military installations in the Middle East.

‎Meanwhile, U.S. War Secretary Pete Hegseth told lawmakers last Tuesday that the United States had spent an estimated $37.5 billion on the war involving Iran.
‎
‎Responding to a question from Democratic Senator Dick Durbin, Mr Hegseth said, “The estimate we have as of today is $37.5 billion.”
