Real estate moguls and twin brothers Tal and Oren Alexander, alongside their brother Alon, have each been sentenced to 30 years in prison for sex trafficking and rape allegations.
The judgement followed the conviction of the three brothers in March for exploiting their financial and social status to lure dozens of women to parties at their homes, where the victims were raped.
Starting in 2010, the twins and their brother, who started their careers at real estate company Douglas Elliman, were alleged to have trafficked, baited, drugged and sexually assaulted multiple women, according to a spokesman for the FBI’s New York field office.
“Your conduct was monstrous. Your crimes wreaked havoc on their lives,” Judge Valerie Caproni of the District Court for the Southern District of New York said during a sentencing hearing on Tuesday before handing them a combined 90-year prison term.
Reports noted that the court heard from 12 victims during the hearing, including one who did not testify during the trial, with each of them narrating the psychological trauma they endured at the hands of the brothers, while demanding maximum punishment.
Prosecutor Elizabeth Espinosa also asked for the stringent sentence, stating, “For years, they honed their methods of luring women with the promise of luxury, completely unmoved by the path of suffering they left behind them.”
The brothers’ lawyers begged the court for 15-year prison sentences, but the judge rejected the pleas and sentenced each of them to 30 years’ imprisonment.
