A media outlet affiliated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has released a video containing assassination threats against U.S. First Lady Melania Trump and her son, Barron Trump.
The video, published on Monday by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency under the title “How to Kill Melania Trump,” shows footage of the First Lady travelling through New York City in her motorcade and visiting luxury shopping locations. It suggests these movements could provide opportunities for what it describes as “operations by global freedom fighters.”
The closing moments of the video also contain a direct threat aimed at Barron Trump, stating, “This is just the beginning. Barron Trump, wait for us.”
The latest threat follows earlier warnings from Iran against U.S. President Donald Trump after the killing of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in a U.S.-Israel airstrike carried out in February.
Responding to the development, the U.S. Secret Service confirmed it is aware of the video and is treating it as a potential security concern.
”The Secret Service is aware of the video and investigates anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees,” Nate Herring, Lead Public Affairs Specialist in the agency’s Communications and Media Relations Office, told Newsweek on Monday.
He added that the agency would not comment further because of operational security considerations related to protective intelligence.
