Cross River State Governor, Senator Bassey Otu, has paid glowing tribute to elder statesman, banker, and philanthropist, Chief Dr. Asuquo Ekpenyong, as he marked his 78th birthday anniversary.
Otu described the celebrant as a distinguished figure whose life of excellence, integrity, and service has continued to inspire generations within and beyond Cross River State.
In a congratulatory message issued through his Chief Press Secretary and Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Linus Obogo, the governor praised Chief Ekpenyong for his remarkable contributions to banking, enterprise, faith, and humanitarian service.
He noted that the elder statesman’s enduring legacy is reflected in the many institutions he helped build, the communities he impacted, and the lives he transformed through decades of dedication and selfless service.
According to the governor, Chief Ekpenyong has remained a symbol of visionary leadership, discipline, and generosity, qualities he said have earned him admiration and respect across the country.
Otu described the celebrant as a father figure and custodian of noble values whose wisdom and guidance continue to shape society positively.
He stated that men of Chief Ekpenyong’s calibre are rare, adding that his unwavering commitment to humanity and development has left lasting footprints in the state and beyond.
The governor also commended the philanthropist’s quiet investments in human capital development, faith based activities, and community advancement, saying his greatest accomplishments are seen in the countless lives he has uplifted over the years.
He further prayed for God’s continued grace, strength, peace, and sound health upon the elder statesman as he begins another chapter of life.
Otu added that the 78th birthday celebration offers an opportunity to reflect on the values of service, compassion, dignity, and excellence exemplified by Chief Ekpenyong throughout his lifetime.
He expressed hope that the celebrant would continue to serve as a beacon of wisdom and inspiration to Cross River State, Nigeria, and future generations.
