The police command in Abuja says it nabbed 10 suspects for vandalism across Kubwa, Wuye, and the National Mosque area.
In a statement on Sunday, Josephine Adeh, the command’s spokesperson, said armoured cables and a vandalised solar street light were also recovered during the arrest on Wednesday.
She said that on Wednesday at about 6:00 pm, a police patrol team from Kubwa Division, while on routine patrol around Bazango-Kubwa, sighted some persons vandalising armoured cables.
The suspects are Goodname Oriarebun, 29, of Gishiri, Mabushi; Timothy Donald, 28, of Arab Road, Kubwa; Emmanuel Elijah, 28, of Shelter Farm, Byazhin, Kubwa; Christian David, 28, of Kabba, Kagini, Abuja; and a female suspect, Ayo Buli, 26, of Gishiri, Mabushi.
A police patrol team from Wuye Division arrested a suspect, Moses Luka, while digging out armoured cables along the road between Magic Land and National Stadium.
She explained that in another operation, a police surveillance team from Wuse Division arrested four suspects, namely Musa Abdullahi, Suleiman Idris, Aliyu Isa and Muhammed Abdulrahman, around the National Mosque area of the FCT.
Mrs Adeh said the suspects cut down a solar-powered street light in an attempt to vandalise and remove its components.
“Investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend other members of the various syndicates, including the receivers of stolen public infrastructure,” she stated.
