The Kaduna State High Court has again denied bail to former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, rejecting a fresh application filed before the court.
In his ruling delivered today, the presiding judge held that “there were no new facts presented in the fresh bail application to warrant a review of the earlier position of the court.”
The court, however, “directed that the substantive case be given accelerated hearing.”
The decision marks “another rejection of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai’s bid to regain his freedom through the judicial process.” Court records show “Mallam has now spent several months in detention since his arraignment.”
Supporters of the former governor said they “will continue to monitor the proceedings closely and provide verified updates as the matter progresses,” adding: “The Movement is Rising. Justice Must Prevail.”
El-Rufai is facing charges filed by the Kaduna State Government. With the court’s directive for an accelerated hearing, the substantive trial is expected to commence sooner than earlier scheduled.
