The Oyo State Police Command has apprehended a suspected armed robber, identified as 31-year-old Akindele Seun, and recovered a tricycle allegedly stolen from its owner in Ilorin, Kwara State.
The suspect was arrested by officers from the Command Monitoring Unit during an intelligence-driven stop-and-search operation along the Oyo-Ogbomoso Road.
According to the police spokesperson, Ayanlade Olayinka, the operation was carried out at Irepo Area after the command received information about the stolen vehicle. He said operatives intercepted the tricycle, with registration number Lagos EPE 236 QR, and arrested the rider.
Olayinka stated that preliminary investigations revealed that Seun allegedly robbed the tricycle owner at gunpoint in Ilorin before escaping with the vehicle to Oyo State.
He added that the recovered tricycle has been secured at the police station as authorities work to locate the rightful owner and return it.
The police spokesman further disclosed that investigations are ongoing to identify and arrest other individuals who may have been involved in the crime.
