Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has pledged government support to residents of Dangamau community in Kusada Local Government Area after a rainstorm accompanied by strong winds destroyed more than 200 houses, shops and other property.
The governor, in a statement issued on Sunday by his Chief Press Secretary, Ibrahim Kaula-Mohammed, described the incident as tragic and expressed sympathy with families affected by the disaster, many of whom have been displaced.
He assured the victims that the state government would stand by them during the difficult period.
”On behalf of the government and people of Katsina State, I extend my heartfelt sympathy to everyone affected by this unfortunate incident in Dangamau. We share in your grief and will ensure you receive the needed support,” the governor said.
Radda disclosed that he had directed the appropriate government agencies to carry out an immediate assessment of the damage to enable a swift response.
He added that arrangements were already underway to provide emergency relief materials, including food, temporary shelter and other essential items, to those affected.
According to the governor, the government is working to ease the hardship faced by displaced residents and restore normalcy in the community as quickly as possible.
He also appealed to residents to remain calm and cooperate with emergency officials handling the response, while offering prayers for the safety of the community and asking God to prevent similar disasters in the future.
The rainstorm, which swept through Dangamau, left widespread destruction, damaging homes, shops and other valuables across the community.
