Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has expressed gratitude to residents for re-electing him for a second term, describing the outcome as a strong endorsement of his administration’s performance and vision for the state.
Reacting after the Independent National Electoral Commission (Independent National Electoral Commission) declared him winner of Saturday’s governorship election, the governor said the result reflected the people’s desire for sustained progress, peace and continuity in governance.
In a message shared on X, Oyebanji noted that the overwhelming support he received across the state was both encouraging and humbling.
According to him, the victory, which saw him secure all 16 local government areas and a significant majority of the votes cast, demonstrated the confidence Ekiti residents have in his administration.
He stated that the outcome was a clear signal that citizens, regardless of location, were united in their aspiration for continued growth, stability and expanded opportunities.
The governor pledged to justify the trust reposed in him by ensuring that government programmes and policies deliver greater benefits to communities and households across the state.
Emphasising unity, he said the election produced no losers, but rather a collective mandate for the advancement of Ekiti State. He promised to continue serving with fairness, dedication and humility throughout his next term.
Meanwhile, the election’s Returning Officer, Adenike Oladiji, announced the final results in the early hours of Sunday, declaring Oyebanji winner after polling 319,224 votes.
The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Oluwole Oluyede, garnered 40,543 votes, while Dare Bejide of the African Democratic Congress secured 12,872 votes.
